For the article about the 1980's version of this character, see Ancient Spirits of Evil.

The Ancient Spirits of Evil are four evil spirits that used to dwell within the four statues inside Mumm-Ra's Black Pyramid. They are the source of power for Mumm-Ra.

The ultimate embodiment of evil, the Ancient Spirits are the ones who endow their slave Mumm-Ra with all his supernatural powers. Whenever changing into his Ever-Living form, Mumm-Ra invokes the Ancient Spirits. They are the ones who instructed Mumm-Ra to destroy the Star of Plun-Darr in order to create the Sword of Plun-Darr. After the remains of the star were gathered, they possessed a Blacksmith in order to utilize his body to forge the sword.

After Mumm-Ra was defeated by Leo and his rebels and locked in his sarcophagus for many centuries, the Ancient Spirits were worshiped by the Tiger Clan who were still loyal to Mumm-Ra. When they asked the spirits for help in ridding their clan of a deadly disease that was decimating them, the spirits agreed on the condition that Javan sacrifice his newborn son Tygra. When Javan couldn't bring himself to killing his son and instead chose to send him away in a hot air balloon, the spirits were enraged and they cursed the souls of the entire clan to turn into mindless Shadow Demons at nightfall for all eternity.

However, when Tygra's humility broke the curse on the Tiger Clan, the infuriated spirits dispersed and disappeared, never to be seen or heard from again.

StrengthsEdit

The Ancient Spirits of Evil appear to have almost limitless magical powers which they use for their evil deeds.

WeaknessesEdit

Despite their phenomenal mystical powers, the Ancient Spirits need a conduit to do their bidding. They themselves are limited to either residing inside the four statues in Mumm-Ra's Pyramid or existing as spirits.

AppearancesEdit
