Standing a solid 5 inches tall, the Cruncher figure had action features as well as poseable arms, legs and head, thanks to 5 points of articulation.
Cruncher was released as a member of the ThunderCats "Berserkers" sub-line which included Hammerhand, Cruncher, Top Spinner, and Ram-Bam. All the Berserkers had a unique packaging which consisted of a backing card which was hollow in the center. The figure was placed in this cut-out section and enclosed in a clear plastic bubble from both ends. The bulky size of the Berserker figures necessitated this type of packaging.
The backing card of each Berserker featured an illustration showing the figure in action. Cruncher's backing card featured an illustration of him grabbing Lion-O in his huge crushing arms.
Al-Es made and/or repackaged the LJN ThunderCats toys for the Italian and French markets. In France, their toys' packaging had "Cosmocats" printed on them instead of "ThunderCats".
1. Battle-Matic Action: Cruncher's action feature was controlled by a red lever located on the side of the figure. First the figure's torso would have to be pulled back to lock it into place. Then twisting the lever would cause the figure to lunge forward and grab anything in front of it with its massive arms.
2. Poseable limbs and head: The Cruncher figure had 5 points of articulation, 2 at the shoulders, 2 at the hips and 1 at the neck. These points allowed the figure to be posed in a variety of action poses.
Cosmocats vs LJNEdit
The Cosmocats Cruncher was identical in every aspect to its LJN counterpart. Only the packaging was different.
