Cruncher is the largest member of the viking-like pirates, the Berserkers. His outfit is mostly blue and grey and he has a red beard. Even though he sometimes does not get along very well with the other Berserkers, like them, he fears their captain Hammerhand and will follow his orders without question.

ThunderCats Bullet Point Strengths[]

Cruncher is huge in size and very muscular. His weapons are his stocky arms. He uses them to grab onto enemies and hold them in a vice-like bear hug, crushing them. Once a victim is in his grip, it is almost impossible to escape. He can also use his tough fists to smash through solid rock and break trees and other objects.

ThunderCats Bullet Point Weaknesses[]

Like the rest of the Berserkers, Cruncher isn't very bright. He is more of a dumb henchman type. Also, his stocky build and huge body frame makes him slow and cumbersome at times.

ThunderCats Bullet Point Weapons & Equipment[]

Like his captain Hammerhand, Cruncher too does not brandish any weapons. Instead he relies solely on his powerful arms to pulverize any opponent that dares to go toe-to-toe with him.

ThunderCats Bullet Point Character Design[]

Like all the other Bersekers, Cruncher's design went through a change from their first appearance. In his debut episode "The Terror of Hammerhand", Cruncher had a different color scheme and slightly different look (see Original Concept Art image below). Even though he was still the biggest of all the Berserkers, he was never referred to by his name in that episode. He was merely a part of Hammerhand's crew.

ThunderCats Bullet Point Merchandise[]

The toy company LJN produced a Cruncher action figure as part of its ThunderCats toyline. The figure was released in the second wave of toys that were produced in 1986. Cruncher was part of the "Berserkers" sub-line which also featured action figures of the other members of his crew. The figure's "Battle-Matic Action" feature was activated by a lever on its waist, twisting which would cause the figure to execute Cruncher's signature "bear hug" move.
