John Marc DeMatteis is an American comic writer, screenwriter and novel author who wrote three episodes of the 2011 rebooted series of ThunderCats.

DeMatteis has had a prolific career in both comics and television writing. He has worked with all the major comic publishers and subsidiaries including DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Dark Horse Comics, Wildstorm, Vertigo, and Epic Comics. He has written comics starring such iconic characters as Batman, Superman, Aquaman, Spider-Man, and Captain America, just to name a few.

He has also written for television, having penned episodes of shows like "The Twilight Zone", as well as for numerous animated series like "The Real Ghostbusters", "Justice League Unlimited", "Legion of Super-Heroes", "Batman: The Brave and the Bold" and Teen Titans Go!
