The Jungles of Darkness are a dense forest region of New Thundera. After New Thundera was formed, areas of the planet had climates that were strongly influenced by the near orbiting Moons of Plun-Darr. Jungles of Darkness are characterized by pitch black darkness. The dark conditions are a result of the influence of the third Moon of Plun-Darr which also has near zero visibility. This is the same moon that Red-Eye hails from.
The visibility in this area is so low that it is impossible to venture into it without some sort of visual aid. In order to explore the Jungles of Darkness safely, the ThunderCats invented the Cats' Eyes to be able to see in the extreme darkness.
