Mummy Mumm-Ra was one of the first ThunderCats action figures produced in the second series of ThunderCats toys by LJN Toys. The figure was based on mummy form of the original 1980s cartoon version of Mumm-Ra. Standing a solid 4 inches tall, the Mummy Mumm-Ra figure had poseable arms, and head, thanks to 3 points of articulation. The figure also came equipped with a Staff.

The Mummy Mumm-Ra figure was unique in that it was the only toy in the LJN ThunderCats line that was offered as a "Mail Away Exclusive". The figure was never released on card-back like the other figures. Apart from the Mail Away option, the Mummy Mumm-Ra figure was later included in the LJN Mumm-Ra’s Tomb Fortress.

The Mummy Mumm-Ra figure was promoted on all the 2nd Series toy cards and boxes. Children were required to cut out and collect the "Proof of Purchase" Tokens that were printed on the card backs and boxes of the toys. The Token on all the figure backing cards and smaller vehicles had a value of 2 points, while 4 point Tokens were found on the boxes of the larger toys like LJN Mutant Fistpounder, LJN Mumm-Ra's Tomb Fortress, and LJN Tongue-a-Saurus. THe highest value token was worth 6 points and was found only on the box of the LJN Toys.

After sufficient tokens were amassed, they were to be mailed to the address printed on the offer together with the sender's name and postal address as well as a check or money/postal order for Postage and Packaging. Within a span of 1-6 months, depending on location, the poster would then receive their Mummy Mumm-Ra figure.
