The Warrior Maidens are a tribe of Amazon-like women who dwell in the Treetop Kingdom in the forest of Third Earth. They are all skilled marksmen and ace archers. They have a no-nonsense attitude and are fiercely territorial, as they do not tolerate any intruders in their land. They live in the wooden houses constructed on treetops which together form the Treetop Kingdom. They have intimate knowledge of their environment and all the creatures and plants that inhabit it. They have no access to technology and rely mostly on crude weapons for their protection.
When the ThunderCats and the Mutants arrive on Third Earth, the Warrior Maidens are very wary of both of them, thinking them to both be hostile. However, later on they become friends and allies of the ThunderCats. The maidens have come to the aid of the ThunderCats on many occasions and vice versa. Unlike other allies such as the Berbils who are totally reliant on the ThunderCats for their protection, the Warrior Maidens are highly independent and often handle matters on their own. Only when they face very dire problems do they turn to the ThunderCats for help.
The two main members of the group are the two sisters Willa and Nayda. Willa, the elder sister is the leader of the Warrior Maidens. She is often the one who interacts with the ThunderCats directly. She is entrusted with the safety of her tribeswomen. Her younger sister Nayda is the second in command and also their main scout.
After the Mutants and the Lunataks were removed from Third Earth, Willa and Nayda were made members of the League of Third Earth.
